I’m overwhelmed by the number of comments on this post.
I’m overwhelmed by the number of you who have tried this recipe and told me you love it.
And after not having made this recipe for 3+ months, I’m overwhelmed by how delicious it still is.
A lot of people have asked if you have to peel the chickpeas, which can feel overwhelming given how many there are to peel. The answer is no, you don’t have to peel them for this recipe any more than you do for any hummus recipe. But peeling the chickpeas will make any hummus incredibly smooth and is worth the effort in my opinion.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Dessert Hummus(Original post)
Ingredients:
- 2 cups chickpeas
- 1/4 cup natural peanut butter
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1/2 Tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Add all the ingredients into the food processor(I used some brown sugar because I was low on maple syrup).
Puree until smooth.
Add the chocolate chips and fold them in.
I’d like to be able to suggest serving this with banana chips, graham crackers, Nilla wafers, or something else fun. But really the only way I can suggest is with a spoon.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m about to go be overwhelmed by how much hummus I can eat in one sitting.
I’m overwhelmed by how fabulous your recipes are!
Just wanted you to know that I was overwhelmed by the brownies you posted. (Feb I think??) I linked back the recipe on my most recent post. I’m having a hard time with portion control!! So.good! 🙂
All I can think about while reading this was “I know you can be overwhelmed and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?” Oh 10 Things I Hate About You…
I like my sketchers, but I *love* my Prada backpack.
Ahhh, I still need to make this!!
I LOVE this stuff! I made a batch of it, then proceeded to eat it slowly, trying to make it last. Last night I ate the half that was left with a spoon, all by itself. It was AWESOME, even better than the ice cream my husband had. Definitely do peel the chickpeas! I didn’t peel mine, and there was some graininess to the texture…
Ah yes!I turned your sweet hummus idea into strawberry hummus for lunch yesterday. Thank you SO much for the idea 🙂
I so need to try this recipe. In the meantime, I linked your beans and kale dish to a Top 10 recipe roundup I am hosting for a friend today (she is traveling).
I think you have finally convinced me to try the sweet hummus. Now I just need some chickpeas!
I read this recipe on your blog a while back and bookmarked it, always planing on making it, but never have. Now I defiantly will!
Ditto!!
I am trying this recipe next week!!! Looks amazing and has had awesome reviews 🙂
This is happening. Today.
For some reason I haven’t tried the recipe yet, I think it’s my fear of eating the entire thing in one day!
i obvs still need to make this.
I was just thinking about this! I bought a box of graham crackers at Costco specifically for this purpose. Great minds, right?
I’m overwhelmed with how this fills my sweet tooth and I can eat it with almost anything.
So I read this post right after breakfast. I went straight back into the kitchen, made this with Dark Chocolate Dreams from PB & Co as well as homemade coconut carob chunks in lieu of chocolate chips.
Holy. Banana.
This is gold.
this recipe is seriously amazing. I volunteer at local schools and teach kids about healthy eating and I made this for them. They lovedddd it!
Julie, I think that is my favorite feedback ever. Child nutrition is something I care deeply about and I never imagined I could have an impact like that. Thank you for sharing.
I saw this post and thought ‘wow! that looks amazing! I wish I had some right now!’ Then I remembered I made your Snickerdoodle hummus a couple of days ago and had some in my work kitchen. I am not eating it by the spoonful =-)
Evan I still havent tried your hummus but seriously it’s on my TO BE MADE list. I promise, one of these days, I will. PB + Choc Chips = my idea of a recipe 🙂
Yum. Times two.
I remember this recipe and am shocked I haven’t made it yet! You are definitely a food blogger god Evan!
I still haven’t tried this version, but if it’s half as good as your snickerdoodle hummus, then I know it won’t last long around me!
this truly is THE best dessert hummus (or any hummus) that I have ever tried! My favorite dipper is with pretzels but, you’re right, I mainly just use the pretzel as a spoon to scoop up more of it 😀 I’m afraid to make it again because I know I’ll eat the whole thing!
I really need to try this!
I get overwhelmed every time I see this recipe by the need to buy chocolate chips- why, oh why do I not have any right now?!
Ohmygosh! I love your recipes!!! Evan, you are the BEST CHEF EVER!!! 😀
xoxox

By the spoon was definitely my preferred method of getting this in my body. I need to make this again SOON.
I just made this, and I am IN HEAVEN. I added some Stevia and did the whole can on chickpeas.. Dunno how much pb I used. Less than 1/4 of a cup. I was just doing it by taste.
I’m the biggest PB lover, and this makes eating it much lighter on my conscious! 😉
Thank you for the recipe!
P.s. I love your blog 🙂
